Today’s society is full of inappropriate images and videos. It is an era of shamelessness. Today, more than ever, is when we need to focus on getting young adults married as soon as we can.
Marriage is the cornerstone of a settled and peaceful life. Marriage is the basic unit of the family and the society. Without it, young men and women will remain restless and incomplete. They need to partner up the way Allah has made legitimate for them.
This responsibility of marriage has two sides to it. One is the responsibility of the society and the other is that of the single individual. The single himself/herself needs to protect himself from falling into illegitimate relations. And for that the Qur’an tells them to keep their eyes away from wrong looks in verse 30 and 31 of Surah Al-Noor. Verse 30 talks about men refraining their looks while verse 31 talks about women refraining their looks. The second responsibility that the Qur’an teaches such single individuals is to keep themselves chaste in verse 33. And the Prophet teaches us to fast in order to keep our desires in check.
However, this personal resistance of desires is one part of the equation. Before verse 33, where Allah talks about singles keeping themselves chaste, Allah mentions in verse 32 about the responsibility of the society around the single person in order to get him married. The verse says that even if they are poor, Allah will provide for them. Therefore, as parents, family, relatives and society in general, it is our responsibility to put our grudges, evil intents, ill-feelings etc. aside and take up this responsibility of getting young men and women married as soon as they are ready for it. Delaying such things unnecessarily, especially in today’s day and age is nothing but utter foolishness.
