Dua also known as supplication also known as calling something or someone in the unseen for help. These three terms mean one and the same thing. At least as I’m going to use them. I am presenting three clear reasons as to why supplication cannot be done to anyone or anything other than Allah:

1. The way we enter Islam is by confessing that there is no one worthy of worship except Allah. And Hadith 3372 of Tirmidhi says, “The Prophet said: “The supplication, is worship.””. Thus, we cannot supplicate to others otherwise we’d be worshipping them.
2. The entire Qur’an talks about Allah being the sole Creator. Allah being the sole provider. Allah being the only One who can help. No one but He can save you. Allah giving you all the blessings. And then also telling us to call on to Him. Then also narrating the stories of how messengers of Allah called upon Allah alone. I cannot quote verses here otherwise this will become long. Anyways, after telling us all this,(may Allah forgive me for expressing this) was Allah crazy?(God forgive me!) Was He telling us all this to finally reveal to us that we must turn to others for help?? Who in his right mind would then accept that The Qur’an was a sane book? This would have been the biggest philosophical contradiction in The Qur’an!!
3. If one says that I call upon others but says that I still believe that it is Allah who provides then he is nothing but destroying the entire religion of Islam. Why doesn’t he perform tawaf (circumambulate) around other than the Kaba? Why doesn’t he offer the five daily prayers in front of idols? Why doesn’t he do every act of worship for other than Allah and then simply say that I am actually doing it for Allah, but in my way. Why doesn’t he live a life of his own desires and say that I still believe that Allah is the greatest? Simply put, in this fashion, the entire religion would be destroyed and have no meaning left in it.

In short, calling upon other than Allah: 1. destroys the confession of entering Islam, 2. destroys the Qur’anic message and 3. destroys the religion of Islam !!!! What a wasteful act!!

In the end, I’ll put some verses and a prophetic narration:

1. Surah Al-Jinn, verses 20-22, “Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “I call only upon my Lord, associating none with Him ˹in worship˺.” Say, “It is not in my power to harm or benefit you.” Say, “No one can protect me from Allah ˹if I were to disobey Him˺, nor can I find any refuge other than Him.” Thus, here we see that not even the Prophet (pbuh) can harm or benefit anyone, so what benefit does one get by calling upon someone else??
2. Surah Al-Ahqaaf, verse 5, “And who could be more astray than those who call upon others besides Allah—˹others˺ that cannot respond to them until the Day of Judgment, and are ˹even˺ unaware of their calls?”and verse 6 says, “And when ˹such˺ people will be gathered together, those ˹gods˺ will be their enemies and will disown their worship.” So these people who they called upon will become their enemies !!!
3. Surah Al-Jinn, verse 18 is explicitly saying not to “call” anyone else besides Allah, “The places of worship are ˹only˺ for Allah, so do not invoke anyone besides Him.”
4. Surah Al-Qasas, verse 88, “And do not invoke any other god with Allah. There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him. Everything is bound to perish except He Himself.1 All authority belongs to Him. And to Him you will ˹all˺ be returned.”
5. Tirmidhi Hadith 2516 says, “When you ask, ask Allah, and when you seek aid, seek Allah’s aid. Know that if the entire creation were to gather together to do something to benefit you- you would never get any benefit except that Allah had written for you. And if they were to gather to do something to harm you- you would never be harmed except that Allah had written for you.”
